El Ceibo Project
Leaders: Michelle Westholm (HS Social Studies teacher) and Delfina Miranda (Grade 12 Student)
Lincoln's neighbor across the railroad tracks is a small neighborhood called El Ceibo. Full of friendly residents and bright colors, the community welcomed Lincoln students and staff for the second time during Service Learning Week 2017. The priority project was the painting of one street's facades and retouching the two entrances which had been the previous year's main project. Many residents of El Ceibo stopped by to chat, say thank you, and several joined the work crew. Many thanks are due to Ana Ariola, the El Ceibo representative who coordinated and hosted our group. We hope to maintain the friendly relationship between our communities.e hope this is the beginning of a long and cordial relationship between our communities.

Nuestra Señora de la Luz Project
Leader: Ignacio Garibaldi
Our work at Nuestra Luz included a lot of interaction with the students. We attended workshops and classes in photography, art, ceramics and martial arts. Lincoln students wrote interview questions, live-translated, and spoke with Nuestra Luz students and faculty to create a short video we made to celebrate their school. We also completed some construction projects, including building a new door for the cafeteria, installing a new green rug for their patio, and helping with their vegetable garden.

Lincoln has been working with the students and teachers at the wonderful Colegio Maria de Guadalupe in Pacheco over a number of years, seeing it grow and expand with time. Lincoln students visit the school on a weekly basis to support students with English and Science. In addition, Service Learning Week sees maintenance projects undertaken, such as painting games on the playground and mending fences.

Chacras Project
Leader: Maria Jose Schamun
The Chacras project is an ecologically based experience for which students prepare all year long: they collect the plastic bottles, they filled them with plastic waste and, finally, they get together with other schools in order to teach them how to re-utilize non recyclable plastic by making seats, tables, etc. It is an experience that generates conscience about the environment and promotes tolerance and acceptance.

Projects on Lincoln Campus
Leader: Mariana Fernandez, Allison Poirot
Lincoln on-site projects include a Media Team, a Green Team, and a Teacher Aide Team. Teacher Aides assist teachers in elementary school classrooms in their lessons with students and administrative tasks. The Media Team documents all local projects and creates videos, photos, and other media to share to help us reflect at the end of the week. The Green Team gets their hands dirty in the organic garden next to the tennis courts, weeding, planting, building new garden beds, and cleaning up the local grounds.
